or were our voices drowned by the roar
of the cardiogram, as it kept time to your heartbeat.
The doctors said there was no life in you.
But critics. What do they know?
There was music in each breath you took.
We gave you an audience, 24/7,
and cheered even your slightest twitch. Nothing's changed:
at 5, you are always the star of our family.
"He'll never make it big." Even the nurses thought so.
"It's tough, can't be done, to find a matching pair of lungs."
But critics. What do they know?
The lights are on, the beat's in you, we're waiting for the show.
So when you're ready, open your eyes, and your voice,
your voice, will be the sweetest I have heard.
